On December 23, 2015, WRI, National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC) and Zhejiang Center for Climate Change and Low-Carbon Development Cooperation jointly hosted “China’s Carbon-Peak: Annual Research Outcome Release Conference of WRI China Climate Program” to review the joint research outcome of 2015 and look into the future study on China’s carbon peak. The conference issued Establishing GHG Emission MRV Management System to Boost China’s Carbon Market, Study on the Key Technologies of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Data Management and Verification Techniques of the Petrochemical Industry and International and China’s Experience on City Greenhouse Gas Inventories and Application of Inventory Results. JIANG Zhaoli, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Climate Change of NDRC, LI Junfeng, Director of NCSC, CHENG Jihua, Division Director of Zhejiang Center for Climate Change and Low-Carbon Development Cooperation and other famous domestic experts and scholars conducted in-depth discussions on hotspot issues including city-level GHG inventory development and carbon market. 

The recently concluded Central Economic Work Conference and Central Urban Work Conference both identify green, low-carbon and circulation development as the fundamental path for China’s future development. WRI will also respond to this policy positively, build on existing research experience and continue to explore effective, feasible and pragmatic low-carbon development strategy to help China peak carbon emissions and achieve green development.
