A draft version of Greenhouse Gas Protocol’s ICT Sector Guidance is now available for public comment. Each chapter is available to download as a separate document from the GHG Protocol website.

As part of this public comment phase GHG Protocol will be hosting a workshop in Beijing on March 29th 2012 on this important initiative.

The workshop will combine webinar presentations with in-person exchanges to facilitate understanding and feedback on the ICT Sector Guidance. It will be conducted in English. For participants unable to attend in person, it is also possible to join via webinar.

About the GHG Protocol ICT Sector Guidance: The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol ICT Sector Guidance was set up to provide specific guidance on the GHG Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard (the Product Standard). The objective is to provide a consistent approach for assessing the life cycle GHG impacts of ICT products. The ICT Sector Guidance is jointly convened through the World Resources Institute (WRI), the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the Carbon Trust and the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI). The Sector Guidance focuses on ICT services, with chapters on Telecoms Network Services, Desktop Managed Services, Transport Substitution, and Cloud Services. There are supporting chapters covering hardware, software and data centers.

  • Explain what the GHG Protocol ICT Sector Guidance is, and why it is an important initiative

  • Provide an overview of the guidance

  • Seek feedback on the draft guidance from attendees
