Yiran earned a Ph.D. degree in Transportation Engineering from The University of Hong Kong in 2020. Her Ph.D. study focuses on the Electric Vehicle Routing Problem. She has deep knowledge of operations research and has extensive experience in adopting and improving heuristic algorithms such as Artificial Bee Colony algorithm, Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search algorithm, Genetic Algorithm, etc. In the past few years, she published her research findings in several journals and delivered academic speeches at many prestigious academic conferences. She served as the session chair at the 30th European Conference on Operational Research and acts as the paper reviewer for some journals. Yiran is also passionate about social activities. She devoted herself as the Vice President of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) of HKU. Before joining WRI, Yiran founded an online academic training platform, providing project-based learning courses in cutting-edge topics delivered by professors from prestigious universities worldwide. During her spare time, Yiran enjoys playing piano, hiking, playing table tennis, and Chinese Calligraphy. She is also a travel enthusiast.
