Wei Wang is currently working as a research analyst at the Climate and Energy Program of WRI China. His work involves policy research and project management related to carbon emissions reduction in the industrial sector at both national and subnational levels in the country.

Before joining WRI China, Wei Wang completed two internships in energy and environmental consulting firms in France. These internships covered LNG (liquefied natural gas) trade, solid waste management, and wastewater treatment. Throughout his doctoral studies, he investigated the thermochemical conversion of coal and biomass feedstocks for energy production (combustion/pyrolysis) via experimental and modelling approaches.

In 2018, Wei Wang obtained an engineer’s degree in chemical engineering (equivalent to a master’s degree) in France, and in 2022, he graduated with a double doctorate through a joint program between Université de Technologie de Compiègne in France and École de technologie supérieure (Université du Québec) in Canada.

Wei Wang is also passionate about nature conservation and animal welfare. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking and discovering the fauna and flora of the region.
