Before joining the WRI, she was Deputy Secretary-General of China Timber and Wood Products Distribution Association (CWPDA) and Senior Advisor of Tropical Timber Trade Facility Project in Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. During her time at the CTWPDA, she developed the membership system, produced data research reports, and promoted international cooperation. She oversaw projects involving bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the timber industry in Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. She also developed the Self-Discipline Convention of China wood importers, the Consumption Guidelines for Rosewood and Other Valuable Hardwood, Guideline of sustainable Trade of hardwood species and Timber Legality Checklist. While working at GIZ, she served as a senior adviser on the Tropical Timber Trade Facilitation Mechanism project. Her responsibilities included project planning and implementation, as well as other technical work.
