Dr. Ran Wei is the Chief of Staff at the World Resources Institute (WRI) Beijing Representative Office, primarily responsible for supporting the Chief Representative in various capacities and ensuring the effective implementation of all initiatives. Her duties include assisting in the establishment and management of key partnerships, fostering internal collaboration, aiding in strategic planning, supervising project implementation, managing relevant budgets, and planning and organizing flagship events to enhance the organization’s influence in China.

Before joining WRI, she served as the Head of the Ocean Department at the UNESCO San Jose Office (Central America), where she worked to promote marine conservation and sustainable development agendas in the Latin America region. Additionally, she participated in following the negotiation process of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), gaining extensive experience in international climate policy. 

She holds a Ph.D. in Marine Climate Biogeochemistry from the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Germany, focusing on scientific research related to oceans and climate change.
