Wenquan is Research Associate, Energy Program, Sustainable Transition Center, WRI China. His work mainly involves corporate supply chain decarbonization, focusing on solutions of renewable energy consumption. Besides, he also participates in the update and study of international standards including GHG Protocol and SBTi, which can be more widely applied in China.

Wenquan Zhang started his career providing technical consulting services for industrial customers.  He then joined INGO where his work involved strategy planning and implementation of global initiatives such as RE100, bringing together ambitious businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity. He also led an open innovation project at Greenpeace, helping investors identify startups from renewables and energy storage sectors. Prior to WRI, Wenquan worked at the Paulson Institute, studying climate-relevant policies.

Wenquan received his M.S. degrees from Tongji University (Environmental Engineering) and from Uppsala University (Sustainable Development).
